Who’s Played NMF in the Past

Produced by Stuart’s Opera House, NMF has in years past reeled in a who’s who in music featuring such acts as Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Gillian Welch, John Prine, The Avett Brothers, They Might Be Giants, Randy Newman, Merle Haggard, Iron & Wine, George Jones, Emmylou Harris, Courtney Barnett, The Decemberists, Japanese Breakfast, Death Cab For Cutie, Wilco, The Flaming Lips, Ween and many more.

Equally as important and impressive through the years has been the fest’s ability to consistently cherry pick and showcase some of Appalachia’s top young rising talent – such as Tyler Childers and Sierra Ferrell – before they climbed to national status and the top of festival bills.

Sustainability @NMF

Sustainability is a huge factor of the locally-sourced NMF. Once again NMF is working with Rural Action’s Zero Waste Program to provide waste diversion and materials management within the festival grounds. This is the 13th year of our continued partnership. Working hard over the years our system has been refined and improved in our effort to strive for ‘Zero Waste,’ after hitting a 94% diversion rate in 2015, we still managed to make a 92% diversion rate in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Our team collected and sorted through all the materials generated within the festival grounds in order to separate both recyclable and compostable materials and prevent them from entering the landfill. Go online at https://zerowastefest.com/ to find out more about Zero Waste Fest.
