MAS movies

We’re not always ahead of the curve, but this year we were at least one day ahead of it. It was the Saturday before the Oscars and since our youngest son Will had seen every Best Picture nominee except for “Parasite,” we decided to watch this shall we say touching and moving story about a family that together works their way out of poverty at least for a minute.
No spoiler alerts here, but let’s just say that some families probably shouldn’t work together and that when the chips are down some family really have your back. Let us also say that Bong Joon Ho has written, directed and produced one of the most riveting films we’ve seen in years and has the four Oscars including Best Picture to prove it.

Marshall Artists Series Spring International Film Festival

As if on cue, usher in the 2020 Marshall Artists Series Spring International Film Festival that features “Parasite,” the South Korean masterpiece that became the first non-English language film in Oscar history to win the award for Best Picture and the first film from South Korea to be nominated for International Feature Film or the category’s previous name, Foreign Language Film. Angela Jones, who helps curate the films for the MAS film fests, saw “Parasite” last year in New York City and long before any Oscar buzz knew she had to present the film on the big screen at the historic Keith-Albee.Parasite shows at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 6 and at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7.
