The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame is celebrating Black History Month with their web site featuring the stirring biographies, photos and short video vignettes of the 14 African American West Virginia natives who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, including 2020 WVMHoF inductee Ethel Caffie-Austin.

Artists In The Wings 

In addition to those inductees, the following African American artists have been voted into the “In the Wings” category and will be inducted in coming years.  Calvin Simon and Clarence “Fuzzy” Haskins (founding members of Parliament/Funkadelic), Winston Walls, Garnet Mimms, The Valentinos/The Womack Brothers, Sonny Turner and Art Simmons.


Get Tickets for the Eighth Annual Induction Ceremony 

The 2020 inductees – Ethel Caffie-Austin, Honey & Sonny Davis (The Davis Twins), Larry Groce, The Hammons Family, and Mayf Nutter – will officially become members of The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 4. 
The eighth induction ceremony will take place at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston. The ceremony will be broadcast live throughout the state on WV Public Broadcasting. 

Nationally known singer Dr. Evelyn Turrentine-Agee, will come to Charleston to induct Charleston’s own Ethel Caffie-Austin into The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame. The other inductees and presenters are: Honey and Sonny Davis (presented by renown WV musicians Tim and Mollie O’Brien), Larry Groce (presented by “Mountain Stage” co-founders Andy Ridenour and Francis Fisher), The Hammons Family (presented by filmmaker/photographer Carl Fleischhauer and musician/author Gerry Milnes), and Mayf Nutter (presented by Pat Boone). The living inductees – Ethel Caffie-Austin, Sonny Davis, Larry Groce, and Mayf Nutter – will be present to accept their awards and perform. In addition, there will be performances by Pat Boone, Charlie McCoy, Tim and Mollie O’Brien, John Ellison, Jesse Milnes and Emily Miller, and Trevor Hammons. The house band will be led by 2008 WVMHoF inductee Charlie McCoy.  The show hosts are Leftover Salmon founder Vince Herman and Emily Miller of The Sweetback Sisters .
